Chippewa Correctional Facility, Kincheloe, Michigan. Where my life was changed
in October 1996 on a Saturday morning. We start another Keryx ministry three-day short course in Christianity at around 6:30pm tonight.
This prison has the highest security prisoners we deal with in Michigan (Level 3) and the prisoners tend to be a little younger than at the other two prisons in the Kincheloe area. We also have something unique that happens during the weekend on Saturday night.
We close Saturday night with a brief ceremony outside the building where we conduct the weekend (but still within the prison fences, of course). That site is about 20-30 yards from the Level 4 housing unit, which is behind another fence. While we have conducted the service in the past, it has not been uncommon for prisoners in that housing unit to open their windows and scream at us, mocking what we are doing. In the past, we have, in the course of the service, prayed for those mockers while they are screaming. Prayers on your part would be appreciated all weekend long, but especially after 8pm Saturday evening.
May God be glorified.
