Eddie Eddings and I would request that you place our co-author, Jon Cardwell, on your prayer list. Jon has been suffering from a medical condition that is explained below (as best as it can at this point) and he (Jon) has posted this video of his current condition. As you will see, he, his family and the church he pastors, Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama, all need whatever prayers and pleadings we can offer to our sovereign God for physical healing and also for continued spiritual strengthening by His Spirit for all involved through this trial. A summary of how Jon got to this point is below the video.
From Jon’s YouTube site: Some may be unaware of the situation. In January 2008, Jon and family had to leave Scammon Bay, Alaska because of ailments that were thought to be ALS. After examination by the VA at Loma Linda, ALS could not be definitely determined and in the meantime, Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama extended a call, so Jon Cardwell has been pastor of SGBC since January 2009, the congregation fully realizing Jon’s physical condition. The symptoms, which may be those due of PLS, the scarring of upper motor neurons (in the brain, whereas ALS is scarring of upper and lower motor neurons, both in the brain and spine), have caused Jon a very slow degradation until this point where muscle spasticity is severe enough to be in his neck, mouth and facial muscles. At this point we are waiting for another appointment and review from the VA Hospital in Birmingham, so that we can receive a referral to see a Ph.D. specialist in Motor Neuron Disease, who is in Birmingham, Dr. Liang Lu. So that’s where we stand now, at the mercy of the Almighty, and in the red tape of government medicine.
